Swan Point Marina is the place for you. Small, family run marina by Tina and her mom. Floating docks that hold 8 boats, good power, a little exciting to get into when the tide current is going, but hey, you are a Looper you can do this. Great dock help, cheap rates ($1.50 per foot, no electric up charge) and the cheapest fuel in NC is right next door. Sold? But wait there is more! The Riverwalk Restaurant will send the manager over to pick you up. Great food, decent wine/beer selection, home made pies. We loved the free hush puppies, our steaks, blacked fish and two giant pork chops. Baked potatoes the size of a Westerbeke Oil filter. And they will cart your “in a food coma” body back to the marina. Get the pie to go. Don’t want to leave the boat? There is a great build it yourself pasta and pizza place that delivers. Laundry? Got it covered. Local boaters to meet and swap tales with? Done. Great Sunset? Why of course, rain or shine the sun sets here every day! Tina, the manager, just brought us a quart of strawberrys. The perfect jump point to Beaufort, catch the bridge, watch the Marines do live fire across the ICW.
You loved the friendly family marinas in Canada, NY, down the Middle Rivers, in Florida and up the coast, this place ranks in the top 10. Foster Schucker
Harbour Village was the home port for M/V WinSue from June 2002 until moving to Riviera Dunes Marina, Palmetto, FL, in 2005. Good to hear that all is well there. Thanks Phil and Sandy. Winston Fowler
Harbor Village Marina is just off the ICW. Just north of Wrighsville Beach. They have really nice floating docks and we were put on the outside wall finger docks. The dock master was there to help us get hooked up and gave us a ride in the golf cart to the dockmasters office to get checked in. It’s a long walk in fact that evening I just dropped the dinghy into the water and used it to get some ice. The office and fuel docks were just across the fairway and to the left of where we were docked but the walk would have been all the way around the marina. It was just a one night stay; we left early the next AM. Phil and Sandy Herl

This marina is between the Surf City Bridge and the Figure Eight Island Swing Bridge near ICW red marker 94. It too offers a bail out point on those long days when bridge timing and travel speeds do not work out well. There are floating docks in this marina, which primarily caters to private slip holders. There are a few transient docks and fuel is available. There are no restaurants or stores nearby. Ray Kurlak

This marina is hidden but a good stop. Daylight service. Costs reasonable. Contact first on cell phone.
Subject: Harbour Village Marina Cruising News: First off, so sorry to hear about your Mom. We just tied up in Hampstead at Harbour Village Marina. We’ve learned that transients are now welcome at any empty slip and not just the fuel dock. You still need to call the dockmaster on the phone to make a reservation. The attitude of the community seems to have changed in these trying economic times and all are once again welcome. The Chinese restaurant still delivers to your boat and there is a new Italian restaurant that does the same. This is a great stop if you don’t want to run all the way to Wrightsville Beach from Morehead City/Beaufort. Bill Tapestry – Krogen 58
State of the art floating docks,. friendly folks, good chinese food delivery so you can take a break from the galley. entrance looks narrow but plenty deep. A good stop since there are few marinas north of Wrightsville beach and almost no anchorages for larger boats. Pascal MY Charmer, 70′ Johnson
Claiborne: Anyway I left and tonight am in Harbour Village Marina in Hampstead NC. I normally stay in Beach House Marina but what with the Easter weekend Beach house was full. Harbour Village Marina also is a nice protected marina with good cable and wifi. The only issue with them is that you normally need to contact them by phone and VHF will not get them a lot of the time. The only food delivery places are Dominos pizza and a Chinese place. The entrance channel is well marked and was dredged (12 feet mid tide) and new docks since last I was here in 2005. Pat Banyas s/v Marguerite

Stayed here on May 24 2011. They no longer have showers. No laundry, lounge, showers or boater facilities. You get cable, electric and water for $1.75. Nice and close to bascule bridge that only opens hourly. Kerry Appleton
Stayed there 3/17. Nice people. Showers are in a public restroom and not available after 5PM. Only about a half mile walk thru a very safe neighborhood to a grocery, general hardware store, and a West Marine. Also, about a block from the marina is a shop that sells model boats with some of the best you have ever seen on display. Sykes SV Aquarius
We stayed at the Bridge Tender Marina last summer and were pleased with the service. It is immediately south of the bridge and we very easily cast off and made the first opening heading north the next morning. Great food at the restaurant at that marina. Pat Cummins, s/v Kentris

Located on Motts Channel, which is just south of the Wrightsville Beach bridge, the marina is on the north side of the channel about a tenth of a mile east of the ICW. This marina provides dockage for transient boats primarily on its long floating face dock. Fuel is available and stores and restaurants are within walking distance. This marina is particularly useful as jump off point prior to the five bridges when going north on the ICW, or as an end of day port if making an offshore run from the Beaufort Inlet to the Masonboro Inlet just south of Wrightsville Beach. Access via the inlet to Banks Channel and Motts Channel makes it easy to reach Seapath. The only difficulty (that is well known) is that Motts Channel has a tendency to shoal where it meets the ICW (see Cruiser’s net report). Ray Kurlak
We’ve been here for a week with transmission troubles, the staff was great as was the courtesy car. Very clean, close to basic needs (grocery, hardware stores). A bit rough in strong SW winds.
Very important – when coming into this anchorage! Red daymark 24 is destroyed. Stay far to the green side (almost outside of the channel near where R24 is located on your chart. There is a barge that unloads here, he pushes up to a ramp on the green side and keeps his motor running; the prop wash digs a deep hole on the green side and mounds it near R24. Depths as shallow as 3 feet have been reported at R24.
This was our 3rd stay at Seapath. It is an easy marina to dock at and use of the courtesy car is a plus. We might have hit them on an off day, but I found the crew not as friendly and helpful as our last visits. Bought fuel ( diesel ) for $2.99/gal.
Hi Claiborne I am indeed headed north. I spent last night at Seapath in WrightsvilleBeach and although I like their docks and the ease of getting in and out I can attest that they’re not really transient oriented. Their bathroom/shower is one single room. The dock hands are great and regardless the current or wind the face dock is easy to mate to and never rocks too much. Their wifi is very poor though if you are not right up close to their dock office. Last night the Waterway Guide people spent the night there and seem like nice people but of course they were right up next to the office! Seapath also has a nice courtesy car that always works. Stayed at Masonboro Marina a few miles south of Wrightsville Beach waiting out a forecast storm. We were greeted by David, marina manager, and he was most helpful. Kevin, the Dockmaster, gave us a ride to Lowes Supermarket and picked us up. I highly recommend this stop. It is a quiet, friendly, sheltered place with a great attitude. Captain Philip Conner
Very good stop. Kevin, the dockmaster was fantastic in terms of assistance docking, departing, offer to take you to the grocery store etc. Excellent cement floating docks; very clean showers bathroom facilities. At !.50 / ft it is well worth it
We stayed at Joyner Marina at Carolina Beach (MM 295) at the exit (going north) of Snows Cut. It is first class, and we highly recommend it ($1.50). All services. It is good to see them back in business. John and Sue Winter aboard Just Relax
Docked early in the day here. we biked to the beach (within walking distance) and then had a good lunch at Sea Witch(about a 2 mile ride) Marina offers 25 cent a foot discount for Boat Us.
To get a change of scenery from our home marina, we have just spent the last month (April 2010) at Joyner Marina. This place has been nothing short of fantastic! Tim and his staff has made us feel very welcome (to the point of seriously considering moving there full-time). Wi_Fi signal is strong, floating docks are new and nice, and bathroom facilities are very good. The fuel docks are easy to get to, but the entrance to the marina is a bit tricky in high winds and swift current. It would be nice if they had a courtesy car available as the marina is in a residential part of Carolina Beach and shopping and eating (other than one place) are several miles away. Being right on the ICW, there is a little rolling from passing boat traffic, but the breakwater does a really good job and the marina is well protected. The great view more than makes up for that, and if you like to watch boats go by… this is the place for you. One of the best things about Joyner is its proximity to beautiful Carolina Beach. It’s just a five minute walk to a huge sandy beach that allows camping and driving on the beach. A long walk on the beach is a “must do” while you are there. The new management and staff there are doing an amazing job. They are really trying to engage the boaters with day trips and cook-outs. You can tell they want your business. Joyner Marina has been a great experience for us. We will stop there from now on when passing by Carolina Beach and may decide to make it a permanent home in the future. Captain Tom Beaty
The water really races out of Snow’s Cut into the river leading to a really strong current. Since this marina is really a State Park, they are just not equipped to run it like one [a marina]. A good opportunity for privatization. David Craft Occasional over-nighter at CBSP Marina
Yes, almost empty marina. When I called, I was told they had plenty of room on a t-head for my 34 ft. PDQ power cat with a 17′ beam. Told to go to c dock, turn around, and dock on outside. There is absolutely NO space to turn around, and the only reason we averted a catastrophe was thanks to two fisherman who pushed us off and caught our line. Current is swift going into marina, unlike what guidebook says. The workers are courteous, but know nothing about running a marina, and saying that they were only paid minimum wage and were not allowed to help with docking. They acted like they’d never seen a catamaran, and told us they didn’t know how wide it was. Now we’re here, docked on the outside finally, and praying that we can back out of here when we get better weather. Huge trawler right in front of us, narrow entrance, huge pole in the middle for an unknown reason. So worried yesterday about tearing up my boat or someone else’s, while staff just watched. Worst docking experience I’ve ever had. Beth Grooms
Carolina Beach State Park is a hidden gem. Rob, the dockmaster, is worth the stop there. He has been everywhere, seen everything, speaks many languages and is fascinating. Our 42 feet was pushing it getting into a slip. Fairways very narrow and really not designed for boats our size although there is a face dock that might accommodate 1-2 boats our size. Pump out is $20 but just north of there at Joyner’s, it’s $5. The park charges $30/nite includes water and power. Retail, restaurants, and Food Lion is 1.5 miles away–just outside the gate of the park. The park, 700+ acres, has 6 miles of hiking trails, We were a short bike ride from old-timey Carolina Beach, Cure Beach, and Fort Fisher where the Civil War ended. We loved it there and hate to make its existence known—but what a great stop. Planned to stay one night–stayed three. Laura Bender
Oct 6 stopped at Carolina Beach State Park Marina, a real hidden gem, great price only $30 including electric, plenty of water and room for our 48 foot that draws 4.5 feet and then you are well positioned to time your trip down the Cape Fear River. Doug Cordello
Having stayed at Wrightsville beach on the way south and finding the noise from the bridge too much we decided to give Carolina Beach state park a try. On 18th May 2012 in our Beneteau 50′, 6′ draft we stayed on the A dock ‘T’ head. We were initially assigned the B dock ‘T’ head but found the draft to be less than 6′ MLW so moved to A dock for deeper water (~7′ MLW). The park offers great walks, a quite night, power and water, just what we needed and all for $30. If you are skilled at handling your boat in tight place this is a good stop.
Carolina Beach State Park (MM 297.1) at the west end of Snow Cut on the Cape Fear River, NC – the marina at this state park completed a $4 million renovation in 2011 with all new floating docks, dredged channel and basin, 30 amp power, water, and bath house. Cost was $30 per night including electric for our 41 foot trawler. Our 5 foot draft was no problem at low tide on 16 Apr 2012. There are walking trails and trash containers. Friendly staff. Marina phone – 910-458-7770. Captain Dick M/V Emerald Lady
This marina has to be a best kept secret. It is newly dredged with all new docks for $30.00 per day including 60 amps and water. The state park is a nice place to walk. Vessle length is limited. We are 37 feet and we used all of the slip.
We are currently docked at Carolina Beach State Park at the west end of Snows Cut (ICW mile 292.5). Price $30/day w/240 electric and water. All new floating docks. After you enter the basin, getting into the slip is tight but not a problem. Overall we are about 48 feet and were able to fit into the slip with some hangover front and back. We are the only boat on one of the three docks and there are only 3 other boats in the 54 slip marina. It’s restful, clean and a worthwhile stop. The construction is very well done and they were able to leave just about enough room between piers so that we could fit across the fairway. You could get a 45 footer in to the 17′ wide slips and the only problem would be the wind. Twins or a bow or stern thruster would make it easier. Skipper Jim Bertch
Completely remodeled facility with new floating docks in a protected basin. Peaceful, attractive place with very nice nature trails on the Cape Fear River. Friendly, helpful staff. Easy walk to Supermarket, restaurants, beach. Great value. Skipper Russ McAden
Approach from the water: Just north of the 65’ Highrise bridge, We are only a few hundred yards south of the ICW mainchannel just past day marker 69. The channel is marked and the depth is eight feet at low tide.
